About Gringos Cantina
Gringos Cantina opened in 1998 and started serving the traditional Tex-Mex dishes of Nachos, Burritos, Enchiladas and Fajitas. Over the years we have expanded our menu with a lot more of the well known dishes but also added a few new twists, Thai-Mexican and Indian – Mexican fusion or how about a Mexican Lasagne. We have also built up a very good selection of Vegetarian Tew-Mex options.
The BBQ offers imported steaks, Pork Ribs, Lamb Chops and Shish Kabobs along with some seafood dishes all with a choice of two side dishes. There is also a nice selection of Hamburgers fresh from the grill and a kid’s menu.
In the drinks Department we have built up a selection of over 14 Frozen Margaritas flavors. Gringos own recipe of Red or White Sangria is very popular along with our own version of Pina Colada or Chi Chi (Coconut ice cream) more like an alcoholic milkshake.
Not everyone might want to eat Tex-Mex so we have got together with the Thai Garden next door and are now able to offer a lot of the well known Thai dishes. Also, the Thai Garden specialises in Isaan Food, so you can try some authentic dishes from the Northeast of Thailand.

We serve dinner, drinks and dessert 7 days a week from 2-7pm. Our menus includes Fresh Mexican, Texas BBQ, Vegetarian, Thai and American Favorites.
Sunday – Prawn Panang Enchiladas – 370
Prawns cooked in a Thai Panang curry, mixed with rice, wrapped in corn tortillas, topped off with Panang sauce, cheese, baked in the oven and served with sour cream.
Monday – BBQ Chicken & Ribs – 360
1/2 BBQ chicken and pork ribs served with your choice of two, BBQ potato, stir fried vegetables, 1/2 corn on the cob or French fries.
Tuesday – Mixed Seafood Fajitas – 400
Prawns, squid, white snapper stir fried with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. Served with a side dish of guacamole, salsa, sour cream, cheese and two warm home made flour tortillas.
Wednesday – Lamb Shish Kabobs – 425
Three skewers of Lamb with green peppers, onions, tomatoes and pineapple grilled on the bbq and served with seasoned rice, baked potato or fries.
Thursday – Prawn Tika Masala Enchiladas – 370
Prawns simmered in Tika Masala curry, mixed with rice, wrapped in corn tortillas topped off with masala sauce, cheese, baked in the over and served with sour cream.
Friday – Prawn Massaman Burrito – 350
Prawns simmered in massaman curry with onions and potatoes, mixed with rice, wrapped in a homemade flour tortilla covered with massaman curry sauce topped off with a scoop of sour cream.
Saturday – Chili Night – 285
A different variation of Mexican or Texas style chili. Served with your choice of rice, two flour tortillas or warm baguette.
We came here for dinner for our first night out in Koh Samui and despite some of the previous reviews... This place surpassed our expectations and palette. Amazing flavours and great authentic Mexican dishes...along with excellent service. The owner of the restaurant made a point to come to us a couple of times, with suggested hot sauces to add to our dishes. Do not hesitate... After spending over a month in Thailand my diet needed something different, outside of the amazing local thai food and pizza joints something was missing...I absolutely LOVE mexican food, but is hard to come by in this country. A family of 5, with two vegetarians. The food was excellent. Fresh veggies, great flavours and a very gracious and warm host. Couldn't have asked for more from a Mexican restaurant. Their home made Jalapeño sauce is to die for and they sell it in bottles for 160 TBH. If you visit Samui, Gringos is a must eat!Gaulin C"Beautiful Food"
I love this place it's very relaxed and the food is great! The nachos are excellent and I have them every time we go their. They have 16 flavones of margaritas as well but they are way too sweet.Sandy B"Great Mexican"
We ordered a quesedilla starter which was just the right size for two of us to share. For main courses we had pulled beef burrito, beef burrito and pulled pork burrito. They were all very good. We especially enjoyed the homemade jalapeno sauce which was very, very good and the chipotle sauce as well (apparently made up in Chiang Mai) was lovely too. It was a nice touch, so each diner could customise the spiciness of their food.

It is very good Mexican food. Not so expensive if compare with quality and amount of food that you will get. I was so full before i finish my food. Also very good service. But a bit difficult to find the restaurant.Kwang"Very Good Food!"

What a great find in Chaweng, this restaurant is one of the best Mexicans we've been to!
We had Nachos to start, big portions loaded with chicken and all the sauces then we had Fajitas, enchiladas and chilli con carne, all were delicious, the owner came round to make sure everything was good and told us all about the sauces, especially the homemade jalapeño sauce which was really tasty!
We drank frozen margaritas too, which my fussy husband loved, fine praise indeed!!
All in all a great little restaurant, good value and friendly & efficient staff, defiantly give it a try if you fancy a change from Thai cuisine, you won't be disappointed!Karen P"Fab Mexican Food"
